Volunteer Positions
Safeguarding Committee – Convenor
We are seeking applications for the Convenor of the United Reformed Church Safeguarding Committee, you must be a member of the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹.
You will have a commitment to helping improve and strengthen safeguarding practice Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹.
As the convenor of the committee you will be instrumental in overseeing the implementation of the Á½ÐÔÉ«Îçҹ’s safeguarding polices and the strategic management of safeguarding Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ the denomination. You will support the Head of Safeguarding in their role as Secretary to the committee and you will chair the committee.

Congregational Fund Board Trustee
At the heart of the Congregational Fund Board lies a strong commitment to supporting ministers and students in times of financial need. This small yet impactful charity, with an annual income of approximately £20,000, offers vital assistance to aged and/or infirm ministers, ministers in training, and students facing sudden and unexpected financial challenges. The Board also provides annual study grants to students undertaking ministry training or higher-degree studies.
The Board is composed of both lay and ordained trustees and includes representatives from the Union of Welsh Independents, the Congregational Federation, the Evangelical Fellowship of Congregational Churches, the Unaffiliated Congregational Churches Charities, and the United Reformed Church.
The Board is currently seeking a trustee to represent the United Reformed
Church.
As part of the Board, this role offers an opportunity to actively contribute to meaningful decision-making and to support the vital work of the charity, shaping its efforts to assist ministers and students Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ the community.

Synod Treasurer, Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ West Midlands Synod

The West Midlands Synod is seeking a committed person with financial experience to join our team as Synod Treasurer. This is a significant and rewarding leadership role at the heart of our Synod’s mission, supporting good stewardship, sound financial governance, and long-term strategic planning.
ÌýKey aspects of the role:
- Working with the Finance Team and Synod Officers
- Strategic financial planning and investment oversight
• Oversight of budgeting, accounts, and financial administration
• Supporting churches and committees with financial guidance
• Presenting financial matters at meetings

• Financial management experience
• Understanding of charity governance
• Good communication and presentation skills

Children’s advocate for Children and Youth Programme Enabling Group (CYPEG)
Are you passionate about ensuring the voices of children are heard? We are looking for two people to sit on the new children’s and youth programme enabling group as children’s advocates.
You would have current experience of volunteering or working with children in the United Reformed Church. Be able to consult creatively with children to ensure their voices are heard, have a commitment to inclusivity and diversity and have an awareness of safeguarding.

Convenor of the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ Net Zero Task Group
Could you help lead the United Reformed Church (Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹) in its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint?
The Convenor of the Net Zero Task Group (NZTG) has a key role in coordinating the work of the Net Zero Task Group to provide support, advice and encouragement to the whole of the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹, to help lead the denomination towards a net zero carbon future.
We’re looking for a Convenor who will bring their own experience, drive and perspectives to the NZTG, while also releasing these in others within the task group. The Convenor should be a Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ member (lay or ordained).

Hours:Ìýfull-time (35 hours)
Location:ÌýThis is a hybrid position, with an average minimum of 2-3 days based in our London office, with the rest working remotely from your home, and some travel around Britain. However, homeworking arrangement requests will be considered.
